Tungsten carbide and Super Cut
Scissors with tungsten carbide blades (gold handles) stay sharp considerably longer than plain stainless steel scissors. Super Cut scissors have a particularly sharp ground edge with fine micro-serration. They do not slip off the tissue and cut precisely right up to the tip. Black titanium-coated models also reduce light reflections in the surgical field.
Quality and reprocessing
All scissors are made of rust-free surgical stainless steel. Oil the joint after cleaning and sterilise the scissors open. We recommend separate scissors for cutting sutures and dressings so that dissecting scissors do not become blunt, for example our bandage scissors.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Metzenbaum and Mayo scissors?
Metzenbaum scissors are slimmer, with longer handles and shorter blades. They are used for fine dissection of soft tissue.
Straight or curved?
Curved scissors give a better view of the tip in deeper wound areas; straight scissors are suitable for superficial cuts.
