The No. 8A explorer is a single-ended diagnostic explorer with a fine tip. It transmits the smallest irregularities to the fingertips and is used to check restoration margins and hard deposits. For caries assessment on fissures, use light pressure only and do not force the tip into fissures.
Applications: Examination, checking filling and crown margins, detecting calculus.
